PCOS- The Basics.

 What Is PCOS?

- Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is commonly referred to as PCOS.

- It is a syndrome that affects around 5-10% of women all over the world. So you must never think that you are alone. You definitely are not. That is why we are here to help. 5-10% of women seems like a tiny number, but in the scale of things it's not really. I mean how many people live on the planet?. It means that someone near you probably has PCOS as well. Hopefully, that should make you feel a little better.  PCO (which is just Polycystic ovaries, minus the syndrome) affects around 20% of women.

- It was first discovered in 1935 by Doctor Stein and Leventhal, but experts are still yet to find any real cause for PCOS.

- It is a syndrome that affects women at any age and is basically ovaries that are covered in cysts (twice in quanitity to normal and around 8mm in size). These cysts are simply egg-containing folicles that have not developed properly due to hormonal imbalance.

- PCOS has no massive health risks or issues, but if it is not properly managed, then it can lead to serious health problems.

- PCOS runs in families.

- Is one of the leading causes to infertility problems.

- Can affect self-esteem and appearance.

Therefore, this site is here for You, to help You and to make You feel whole again!
